Tortugas Run Club found its start in March 2021 in Chicago, born from founder David’s desire to create an inclusive running community for those who often find themselves at the back of the pack. Joined by captains Kristin, Chris, JLuis, and José, known as Chino, the crew started small but has grown to a medium-sized community of around 60 dedicated runners. The name Tortugas honors David’s mother and her sisters, who ran 5Ks together under the name Las Tortugas, symbolizing the spirit of steady perseverance that defines this group.
