Crew at a Glance

Komorebi Running Club is a warm and welcoming running community founded in May 2020 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. It was created by founder Pui specifically to provide a fun, safe, and supportive space for beginner runners. Their beautiful name, Komorebi, is a Japanese word meaning "sunbeam through the leaves," which perfectly reflects their philosophy of finding the simple joy in movement. With a "no one left behind" policy, they are dedicated to motivating as many people as possible to keep moving, together.

Komorebi Running Club: Finding the Sunbeams in Eindhoven's Running Scene

In May 2020, a new running crew was born in Eindhoven, driven by a clear and heartfelt purpose. Komorebi Running Club was founded by Pui, a passionate athlete who, on her own running journey, realized there was a need for a club that was truly suitable for beginners. At a time when most local teams were comprised of experienced marathoners and ultrarunners, she created a space where the focus was not on speed, but on the enjoyment of running and the shared motivation to simply keep moving.

A Founder's Journey

The philosophy of Komorebi Running Club is a direct reflection of the personal journey of its founder, Pui. After a long and varied athletic life, she was invited by friends to a half-marathon in Vietnam, which began her love-hate relationship with running. While training, she learned a great deal about her body, but was also aware of her slower pace compared to more experienced runners. This led to a powerful realization: we cannot all be super fast, but we can still inspire and motivate others to move with us. This empathetic and realistic perspective is the foundation of the crew's inclusive spirit.

The crew's name was chosen with the same thoughtful intention. Komorebi (木漏れ日) is a unique Japanese word that describes the beautiful scene when sunlight filters through tree leaves, creating dancing shadows on the ground. This name was chosen because it resonated with the crew's desire to find beauty and joy in the simple act of running. Their philosophy is to create a stress-free and respectful environment where everyone is welcome, no matter their pace.

A Space for Everyone

The culture of Komorebi Running Club is built around making it easy for people to join and to feel that their journey is valued. Their activities are centered on social group runs where the primary goals are to have fun and ensure that no one is left behind. This approach has created a tight-knit and supportive community that serves as a perfect entry point into the world of running for many people in their city.

Komorebi Running Club extends a warm and open invitation to anyone in the Eindhoven area, especially beginners, who is looking for a fun, friendly, and non-intimidating running community. They aim to inspire as many people as possible to stay active. For the latest updates on their runs, interested individuals are encouraged to follow them on their official social media channels.

Known as the home of Philips and the renowned Design Academy, it is a city of innovation and modern energy. However, it is also a very green city, with numerous beautiful parks and nature reserves that provide a perfect and varied playground for its passionate running community.

Runners in Eindhoven are spoiled for choice with a variety of scenic routes. A central hub for the city's athletic life is Genneper Parken, a vast area that includes multiple sports facilities, nature reserves, and a network of paths perfect for running. Another beautiful location is the Stadswandelpark (City Wander Park), which features stunning sculptures and well-maintained trails for a more relaxed, scenic jog.
