Run In Bundang: From a Walking Group to a Trail-Running Force
In January 2018, an initiative called "Walking in Tancheon" was launched by founder Minwoo to encourage others to take a stroll along the beautiful Tancheon River in the city of Bundang. This simple idea for a healthy activity proved so popular that it quickly gained over 100 members and organically evolved into something more. The group began to focus on running, and from this, Run In Bundang (RUNB) was born, becoming the first running crew for young runners in the city.
A Philosophy of Fun and Evolution
The philosophy of Run In Bundang is one of organic growth and a simple desire to #RUNFORFUN. The crew's journey from a walking group to a road and trail running crew shows their adaptable and community-driven nature. Their mission is to share the joy of a healthy lifestyle and running, a passion that has helped them grow into a large and influential community. This spirit of evolution continued in January 2019 when a key member, Kyung Duck, joined and inspired the crew to embrace the world of trail running as well.
The culture of RUNB is defined by its incredible level of activity and its spirit of adventure. The crew runs every day, offering both morning and evening sessions to fit the schedules of its members. This consistent presence makes them one of the most active crews in the region. During the weekends, their passion for exploration takes them beyond the city's pavements and into nature for trail running and hiking excursions in the beautiful areas surrounding Seongnam-si and Seoul.
Run In Bundang extends a warm and energetic invitation to any runner in the area who wants to be part of a fun, active, and supportive community. With runs happening every day of the week, there is always an opportunity to join them. For those looking to be energized through running, you are encouraged to connect with them via their official social media channels.
The Bundang and Seoul Running Scene
As the first crew for young runners in their city, RUNB is a foundational part of the local running scene. They share their home district with the Bundang Running Crew (BRC), another fantastic community, and are part of the massive and interconnected running ecosystem of the greater Seoul Capital Area. This rich network includes world-renowned crews like CREWGHOST and Wausan30, ensuring a vibrant culture for all runners.
The city of Bundang is a modern, well-planned residential hub in the Seoul Capital Area, renowned for its high quality of life and excellent parks and green spaces. The crew's home base is the Tancheon stream, a tributary of the Han River that offers miles of scenic, uninterrupted paths perfect for running. The proximity of their city to the mountains around Seoul also provides a fantastic and challenging playground for their weekend trail runs. For major races, the crew is a regular presence at premier events, such as the Seoul Marathon, held annually in March.
