Brisbane Social Run Club: Where Every 5k Finishes with Friends
Back in January 2018, Isaka and Jo saw how much fun run crews were having in other cities and wanted that for Brisbane. Instead of people running past each other, they imagined a group where everyone runs together. That’s how Brisbane Social Run Club got started, and now it’s a go-to spot for making friends and connecting through running.
Isaka and Jo set the tone for the club. Isaka, who’s a pro athlete, wanted to create a space where active people could meet up, just like the crews he joined while traveling. Jo is the club’s heart and soul, always bringing good energy and a positive vibe. For both of them, running is about the people you meet, not about racing or competition.
Now, runners who used to go it alone can run, eat, and celebrate together. The club has built a real sense of belonging and support. By keeping things friendly and non-competitive, they’ve helped bring all kinds of people together to get active and make friends.
Brisbane Social Run Club is all about having fun, showing up, and meeting new people. They run three times a week, and anyone can join—no need to worry about your pace. The runs are about chatting and enjoying the time together. Afterward, everyone heads out for food and drinks, which is just as important as the run itself.
Brisbane Social Run Club always welcomes new faces. If you’re in town, come join a run. Everyone is invited. To find out when the next run is, just check their social media for the latest schedule.
Brisbane Social Run Club is a big part of the city’s running scene, but there are plenty of other groups and clubs too. Whether you’re just starting out or you’re a serious runner, there’s a community in Brisbane for everyone.
The club’s 5k runs are a great way to see Brisbane. Some of the best routes follow the Brisbane River, with awesome views of the skyline and bridges. South Bank Parklands is another favorite, with lots of green space and even a man-made beach. Running over Story Bridge or through the City Botanic Gardens is also a highlight if you want to take in the city’s mix of nature and city life.
Brisbane has plenty of running events that bring people together. The biggest is the Brisbane Marathon Festival, with races for all levels. There’s also the Bridge to Brisbane, a huge fun run where thousands cross the Gateway Bridge. Both events are highlights for local runners.
