Pular Athletic Club: Uniting Seoul's Runners Through Exercise and Exchange
In the bustling capital of South Korea, a running crew was founded in July 2017 by Najayong Son, standing as a symbol of unity and mutual support. Pular Athletic Club has become a driving force in Seoul's running community, bringing individuals together through a shared love for physical activity. With their inclusive approach and exciting group runs, they have created a space where runners can challenge themselves, find support, and experience the joy of running in a city that pulsates with energy.
A Philosophy of Exercise and Exchange
At the heart of Pular Athletic Club lies its mission to bring different people together through exercise and to create a healthy physical activity culture that inspires one another. Members of PAC, affectionately known as "Pacers," have bonded over their love for sports and draw inspiration from various other cultures, including subcultures, music, and fashion, making the crew a true melting pot of influences and ideas. This commitment to acceptance and support creates an environment where runners of all levels feel comfortable pushing their limits, knowing they have a community cheering them on.
The culture of PAC is active, diverse, and structured. Their weekly schedule is the anchor of their community, offering a variety of ways to get moving. The main group run takes place every Monday at 8 p.m., with routes primarily taking them along the picturesque Han River. In addition to this, PAC members engage in plyometric training once every two weeks on Thursdays to develop strength and speed. When the timing is right, the crew also takes advantage of the weekends to venture into the great outdoors for thrilling trail running adventures.
An Invitation to Join the Pacers
Pular Athletic Club has become a tight-knit group of individuals who motivate and uplift one another, extending a warm invitation to all. Whether you are a seasoned marathoner or a beginner taking your first strides, PAC embraces you with open arms. To join this remarkable journey that goes beyond miles and embraces mutuality, acceptance, and fun, you are encouraged to connect with them via their official social media channels.
The Seoul Running Scene
Pular Athletic Club is a key part of Seoul's world-class running scene. The city is home to a diverse range of crews, including the massive, app-driven community of CREWGHOST, the witty and age-diverse Dogani Running Crew, and the university-based pioneers Running with Kyunghee. This rich and collaborative ecosystem ensures that every runner in the South Korean capital can find their perfect community.
Seoul is a dynamic city that serves as the perfect backdrop for a thriving running culture. The crew's runs take them past iconic landmarks like the Dongjak Bridge and through beautiful green spaces like Yeouido Park. For trail adventures, the lush trails of Bukhansan National Park and the serene paths of Namsan Park offer a beautiful escape. The city's premier racing events, the Seoul Marathon in March and the JTBC Marathon in November, provide a major focus for the city's dedicated running community.
